Animal Health & Identification Info

Most animals must have some kind of identification in order to exhibit at the Jefferson County Fair. These requirements are subject to change, so check this portion of the website for the most up to date information.

Market Animals

At the Jefferson County Fair, swine, goats, sheep, and cattle going to market must have DNA on file with the Fair. Please read the below information pertaining to your exhibited species, and how to get a sample to us in time for the Fair! Market Beef:

Deadline: Submit DNA by December 15th, 2025 for any market steer
Purchasing Tags: Purchase tags and envelopes at the Fair Park Office any day between November 1st-December 12th. Tags are $5 each, and envelopes are $10. If attending weigh-in, you can purchase tags and turn in DNA at weigh-in. You may still purchase them prior to weigh-in if you'd like.
Weigh-in: Beef weigh in is on Saturday, December 13th from 9-11am in the Indoor Arena

Market Sheep & Goats:

Deadline: Submit DNA by May 11th at 5pm for any market sheep/goat
Purchasing Tags: Purchase tags and envelopes at the Fair Park Office any day between November 1st-May 8th. Tags are $5 each, and envelopes are $10. If attending weigh-in, you can purchase tags and turn in DNA at weigh-in. You may still purchase them prior to weigh-in if you'd like.
Weigh-in: Goat/Sheep weigh-in is on Saturday, May 9th from 9-11am in the MAP.

Market Swine:

Deadline: Submit DNA by May 11th at 5pm for any swine
