The Jefferson County Fair Board is a dedicated group of community members who help guide the planning, vision, and success of the Jefferson County Fair. Board members work together to celebrate agriculture, support youth, and create experiences that bring our community together year after year.
Purpose
The purpose of the Jefferson County Fair Board is to support the execution of the Jefferson County Fair and all that it represents by telling its stories and celebrating the benefits it brings to the greater Jefferson County community. Board members are committed not only to offering advice and recommendations but also to rolling up their sleeves and actively participating in initiatives, events, and activities that help ensure the success of the Fair.
Board Structure
The Fair Board will consist of 15 – 20 members who will serve a three-year term. Terms will be rotated amongst participants to allow 1/3 of the membership to expire annually. Service year is September – August. Membership is solicited annually for expected vacancies. The Fair Park Committee makes a recommendation from interested parties to the County Board to serve in this capacity, based on relevant experience and using every effort to find individuals who represent a cross-section of local stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the relationship between board and staff
- Support and assess performance of Fair production and team
- Engage in strategic planning for Fair growth and improvement
- Approve and monitor the programs and services offered
- Enhance the public image of the Jefferson County Fair
- Serve in one of the Fair Operations Categories as listed below
- Ensure adequate financial resources
- Speak with a unified voice
- Carefully recruit and orient new board and committee members
- Attend quarterly Fair Board meetings and be available through regular correspondence as needed
