Wisconsin State Fair Contest

Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie Creation!

The NEW Wisconsin State Fair contest for 2026 is HERE! This year we are looking for the best cookies, with the Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie Bake-Off. (Not just your ordinary cookie, think OUT OF THIS WORLD! Get Creative!) Like last year, we are holding our very own competition here at the Jefferson County Fair with the winner going on to represent Jefferson County at the State Fair (and the chance to win $250)!

What?

Bakers are tasked with baking 9 outrageous cookies, and bringing to the Fair with their recipe. Contestants will cut one cookie specifically for the judges and the other 8 spit into bit size pieces for the voters to eat. They determine a winner based off of taste, ease of preparation, and creativity. Just be sure your cookie contains oatmeal!

When?

During the Fair on Friday, July 10th 2026 (at noon)

Prizes

People's Choice Award: When voting concludes at 12:45pm, the winner deemed by the fairgoers will win the People's Choice Award!
Judge's Favorite: our panel of esteemed judges will deem one baker the Jefferson County winner. This person will then go on to the Wisconsin State Fair competition to represent Jefferson, and have a chance to win up to $250!

If you think your oatmeal cookie recipe can rise to the occasion, it’s time to get mixing, baking, and showing off your best work!

Entry Guidelines

Each entry must include a plate of 9 cookies. Participants are required to provide two copies of their recipe: one copy must include the baker’s name and “Jefferson County Fair,” while the other must not contain any identifying information, as judging will be blind. All recipes must be typed on standard 8½" x 11" paper using a 12- or 14-point font. If a recipe runs longer than one page, additional single-sided sheets may be used. Recipes must be original to the baker entering them, and no prepared mixes are allowed. All cookies must be made entirely from scratch.

How to Enter

To enter the contest, first read the full rules to ensure your entry meets all requirements. Then, on Friday, July 10, bring your cookies to the WSLD Community Tent for check-in.

Upon arrival, please cut up 8 cookies into tiny pieces for the public contest, and split one cookie into 3 pieces for our panel of judges.
