Gate Helper Program
Looking for a fun and easy way to raise funds for your group?
Be part of the Jefferson County Fair’s Welcome Gate Fundraising Program! Groups of four or more will serve as a friendly welcome point for fairgoers at one of the five public entry gates. Each group will earn a flat rate of $250 per shift. We need gate helpers at 5 different gates, and availability of shifts will be on a first come, first served basis.
This is a great opportunity for clubs, teams, service organizations, or youth groups looking to support their cause while being part of the Fair experience!
Volunteer Duties:
- Assist fairgoers with admission
- Distribute brochures
- Provide basic information and warm greetings
Requirements:
- Individuals must be 16 years or older to count toward the required group of four people
- - - - - - -Groups must include at least two members who are 16 or older
- - - - - - - Individuals under 16 are welcome to participate, but do not count toward the required minimum of four people
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable with minor cash handling
Gate Hours & Shift Details: Volunteers will work outdoors, possibly in sunny conditions, in 5–6 hour shifts. The times listed below may be adjusted slightly. Depending on which gate you're assigned to, your scheduled time could vary by up to 30 minutes. We’ll go over the exact details when we finalize your schedule!

Hospitality Volunteers
Event Ambassadors
Become an Event Ambassador—a friendly face at some of the Fair’s most exciting events! From family shows to rodeos and concerts, Event Ambassadors help ensure that guests have a safe, smooth, and positive experience.
This is a volunteer position (not paid), and a great way to get up close while supporting the community!
What You’ll Do:
- Greet and assist fairgoers
- Help with guest redirection, like:
- Pointing out seating areas
- Advising guests to stay clear of action zones
- Assisting with general crowd management
- Be a positive, helpful presence during events
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 18
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable being outdoors in sun or shade (please dress accordingly!)
- Friendly, observant, and helpful
- Able to provide friendly guest redirection
Event Dates & Volunteer Shifts:
We’re looking for 4 volunteers per event:
- Wednesday, July 9 – 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM (Rodeo)
- Thursday, July 10 – 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM (Rodeo)
- Friday, July 11 – 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (Wrestling)
- Saturday, July 12 – 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Taylor Swift Tribute Concert)
- Sunday, July 13 – 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM (Demo Derby)
Kidz Zone Crew
Do you have a passion for fun, laughter, and working with kids? The Jefferson County Fair features a special area just for children—and we need enthusiastic volunteers to help make it an amazing experience!
If you love high energy, big smiles, and making memories, this is the volunteer spot for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise the zone and ensure kids are having fun in a safe, welcoming space
- Provide directions and information to families
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Comfortable being outdoors, possibly under the sun, for the full shift
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods
- Friendly with kids, helpful with parents, and excited to
have fun!
- Able to work independently and take initiative to keep things running smoothly
Volunteer Shifts:
Shifts will range from 4 to 5 hours, depending on the day

Exhibit Hosts
Do you admire static exhibits like knitting, art, photography, plants, baked goods, and more? Then becoming an Exhibit Host might be the perfect (unpaid) volunteer role for you at this year’s Jefferson County Fair!
What You’ll Do:
- Assist fairgoers in navigating the exhibits stationed in the Activity Center or West Building
- Provide information on how to exhibit at the Fair (junior, open class, or senior projects)
- Gently redirect guests to avoid touching displays
- Be a friendly, helpful presence in the exhibit area
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 15 years or older
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable being indoors (dress accordingly!)
- Have general knowledge of how exhibiting works at the Fair, or be willing to learn
- Friendly, observant, and ready to help

Community State Assistants
Are you a lover of theatre, music, or the arts with a knack for tech? Then volunteering as a Community Stage Assistant might be the perfect role for you! This is a great opportunity to support local talent and be part of a brand-new feature of the Jefferson County Fair’s outdoor entertainment lineup.
The Community Stage showcases local performers sharing their skills—from acting and singing to dancing and more!
What You’ll Do:
- Monitor the Community Stage before, during, and after performances
- Assist performers with set-up and tear-down as needed
- Help with microphones, speakers, and other basic tech equipment
- Keep an eye on the stage area to ensure safety and a smooth experience for both performers and the audience
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 16 years or older
- Basic understanding of tech equipment (experience with mics and speakers is a plus!)
- Comfortable being outdoors under a tent (dress for the weather!)
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds if performers need assistance moving props or equipment
- Friendly, observant, and supportive of the arts!
Volunteer Shifts:
We need 2 volunteers per shift
Shifts will vary in length from 1–4 hours, depending on the day’s performance schedule

Office Support
Are you a numbers-minded, detail-driven person who thrives on organization? Then this behind-the-scenes volunteer role might be just for you! We’re looking for reliable individuals to assist with fund tracking and organizing in the Fair Office, working alongside a staff member to help keep everything running smoothly.
This is an indoor-only position, perfect for someone who prefers a quieter, focused environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with a staff member to count and organize funds
- Balance cash trays before they go out to Gate Helpers, and after they return
- Help prepare deposits and ensure funds are tracked accurately
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Strong ability to count, organize, and keep track of money
- Comfortable working alongside a staff member to handle and document funds
- Detail-oriented, trustworthy, and focused
