Superintendent Sign-up

We are now looking for two individuals to join our Superintendent team!

Superintendents are the leaders of their departments, and the fiercest supporters of Jefferson exhibitors. They are experts in their department, they help to make sure exhibitors are informed, and they put all of their efforts towards making the Fair an amazing time for exhibitors.

We have two superintendent positions available, and you can sign-up or nominate someone below!

Information on the Roles

Junior Cultural Arts Superintendent

Active for the 2027 Fair

Responsibilities:
  1. Attend judging day and organize the judging experience
  2. Organize the display of all projects after the conclusion of Judging Day
  3. Meet with Fair staff after Fair to suggest changes to the Premium Book.
  4. Be available for the Fair Office staff to contact you during fair should any problems or questions arise (uncommon)
Mandatory Dates:
  1. Music & Drama judging: Saturday June 26th (8am start)
  2. All other Cultural Arts judging: Sunday, June 27th (11am start)
  3. Organize exhibits for display purposes: starting on July 1st, come anytime after!

Open Static Co-Superintendent

Please note that this position is a co-superintendent, as we already have one. She (Alyssa Jaquith) is in need of at least one more person to help organize and facilitate judging!
Responsibilities:
  1. Attend judging day and organize the judging experience
  2. Organize the display of all projects after the conclusion of Judging Day
  3. Meet with Fair staff after Fair to suggest changes to the Premium Book.
  4. Be available for the Fair Office staff to contact you during fair should any problems or questions arise (uncommon)
Mandatory Dates:
  1. Open Photography Judging: Friday, June 26th (starting at 11am)
  2. All other open departments judging: Saturday, June 27th (starting at 1pm)
  3. Organize the projects for display purposes: anytime after June 27th
Please note that this position is a co-superintendent, as we already have one. She (Becki Durkee) is in need of at least one more person to help!

Responsibilities:

  1. Attend set-up day and organize the layout of cages alongside parents and volunteers
  2. Attend Fair (July 7-11) to facilitate judging, organize barn duty, and input results
  3. Meet with Fair staff post-Fair to suggest changes to the Premium Book.

Mandatory Dates:

  1. June 28th: set-up day (5-7pm)
  2. July 6th: animal check-in day
  3. July 7-11th: fair!
Please Note:
Superintendents are volunteers for the Fair, and are not county employees. These department efforts are recognized when they receive a nominal stipend after the annual Fair is concluded. Stipends are changed from year to year, but in 2026, Superintendents received a one-time stipend of $150 for onsite superintendents and $75 for one-day superintendents.
